Reading notes: King Arthur part B

•  sir galahad went four days with no adventure until he came across a white abbey
• he went in the abbey and knights took him in and led him to a chamber where they told him that there was a shield which if you put it around your neck you would be dead on 3 days or find mischief 
• another knight bore it first and then died in a battle with another knight
• the knight gave the shield to a squire and said that only sir galahad could bear it 
• galahad bore the shield and went to a cemetery and lifted a stone, where there was a body and a bad smoke. he took a body out of the grave since he was not a Christian 
• he healed wounds and chased away bad knights and set free maidens
• sir lancelot came across a stone cross and a chapel which had an altar in it 
• he could not enter so he went to sleep 
• he had a dream that two palfreys came across a sick knight and he begged them to heal him
• the holy grail appeared and he prayed to it and it healed him of his sins
• the knight prophesized when he woke up that sir lancelot was involved in deadly sin 
• when sir lancelot woke up a voice told him to remove himself from the holy place
• everything he had was gone and stolen by the knight in the dream
• sir percivale had no horse and was sitting in the forest when a yeoman told him that his black horse had been stolen by a knight
• he rode after the knight on a hackney but the knight killed it and rode off
• he slept in the forest and awoke to a woman telling him she would lend him a horse 
• he took the horse in water and it burned, so he discovered it was a fiend 
• he saved a lion from a serpent by giving the serpent a deadly buffet, so then the lion thanked him 
• sir lancelot was in the forest and saw hermits that told him sir galahad was his son 
• he left the forest and came across a big castle with 500 knights 
• there were people on white and black horses fighting against each other 
• he helped the black knights but became tired and was carried away into the forest 
• they made him rest and then he rode off and found a chapel 
• a woman in the chapel told him that since he helped the black knights he chose sin and pride 
• sir gawaine was with sir ector when they heard a voice saying they were not worthy of the holy grail 
• the voice said that although they have sinned that sir lancelot would still die a holy man
• sir bors met a man that said he needed to be cleansed of his sins before he was a great knight, so they went to a hermitage and he confessed 
• he gave sir bors a scarlett coat and he couldn't commit a sin again 
• king arthur told sir bedivere that his time was coming to an end so he took his sword to bury in the ocean
• he instead buried it under a tree and then told the king it was done, but he knew he was lying
• after he did it they took king arthur to the barge and he died 
• guenevere became a nun 
• sir lancelot became so weak with grief that he stopped eating and died
