Reading notes: Alice in Wonderland part A
- alice was sitting on the riverbank bored with her sister one day
- a rabbit ran by saying it was going to be late
- the rabbit went down a rabbit hole and she followed it, falling down a tunnel
- she fell very slowly and passed many objects on her way down
- she fell upon a pile of leaves and got up, seeing the rabbit sprint down another tunnel and going after it
- she came upon a bunch of locked doors and then a tiny key that opened a tiny door
- she couldn't fit through the tiny door and when she turned around there was a drink that turned her very small
- she tried to go through the door but forgot the key on the table and couldn't reach it
- there was a thing with cake on the floor that she ate and expected to change size, but she didnt
- she grew to nine feet tall and couldn't find anything else to eat so she could shrink
- when she was tall she saw a catepillar on top of a mushroom smoking hookah that asked her who she was and she said she didn't know
- he had an attitude with her and she couldn't answer his questions
- the caterpillar tells a tale about father William
- the caterpillar asks her what size she wants to be and she says she doesn't want to be 3 inches and he gets mad
- she eats some of the mushroom and shrinks
- she turns into a serpent like creature with a long neck and a pidgeon attacks her thinking she is one
- she kept eating the mushrooms until she was her normal height
- she came across a small house and kept eating the mushroom until she was 9 inches high
- a frog in a costume came and knocked on the door and the two footmen talked
- the letter was for the duchess from the queen inviting her to croquet
- the footman was outside when she knocked so he said there was no use in her knocking because it was so loud inside
- alice finally let herself in after arguing with the footman and the duchess was there and a cook
- she asked the duchess why the cat was smiling that big and she said because it is a Cheshire cat
- the cook took off the soup and started throwing things at the duchess and the baby
- alice asked her to be gentle not to hit the baby and the duchess told her to mind her business and kept shaking the baby
- alice took the baby so it didn't die, but noticed it looked like a pig
- she set the pig down and saw the cat again smiling at her
- he tells her a hare and a mad hatter live close
- he asked her if she was playing croquet with the queen and that he would see her there
- he asked what happened to the baby and after she answered he vanished
